NALAC Launches New Search for CEO and Announces 2025 Organization Programs

March 19, 2025, San Antonio, TX – For over thirty-five years, the National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures (NALAC) has been at the forefront of the Latinx/é arts and culture field. As NALAC progresses into 2025, the board has engaged Evolution Management Consultants (EMC) to lead a national search for its new president and CEO as the organization moves forward with this year’s upcoming programs.

For the past two years, as NALAC has operated through leadership and organizational transitions, we remain grateful for the generous and ongoing support from our funders, sponsors, and supporters who have steadfastly assisted us through this pivotal and transformative process.

As we navigate into 2025, Evolution Management Consultants (EMC) will lead the board through a national search for a president and CEO. EMC is a new consulting firm working to support the development of a healthy, inclusive, expansive, and forward-thinking nonprofit sector. The consulting firm is working with the NALAC board, leadership, and staff to ensure an expansive search is led with a strategic focus on diversity, equity, and strong organizational leadership. The president and CEO job posting is now open, and more information can be found on the EMC website.

“This pivotal moment in U.S. History where immigrants are being targeted in unprecedented ways with demonization and deportation, and the arts, education, and programs that support the health and wealth of Latinx communities across the country are being threatened, NALAC must hold its place and power as a national leader and voice,” shared Charles Rice-González, NALAC’s Board Chair and Acting CEO. “We are excited to be ready to launch this new search and that managing our account will be EMC co-founder and partner Tiffany Vega, an alumnus of the NALAC Leadership Institute (NLI).”

Deputy Director Mari Hernández said, “The NLI is one of our flagship programs and has prepared nearly 300 arts leaders and artists with the foundational expertise to fortify our field. The staff is focused on delivering our planned programs for 2025, and we will announce a series of National Discussions later this spring and summer to share and gather information and strategies around our current political and social climate.”

For the 2025 organizational cycle, NALAC has four planned program initiatives. These programs reflect the dedicated work of the NALAC staff and their commitment to NALAC’s mission of strengthening the Latinx/é arts and culture field and uplifting Latinx/é artists and organizations:

·  The Latinx/é National Survey: The survey is designed to assess the landscape of arts and culture organizations founded, led by, and serving Latinx/é people across the United States and Puerto Rico. Survey results will help guide NALAC in developing resources to assist arts and cultural organizations in their advocacy efforts and help ensure the arts and culture sector is equitably resourced and well-funded. Learn more about NALAC’s national study.

·  The 2025 NALAC Fund for the Arts (NFA): The 2025 NFA will focus on NALAC’s collaboration with and support from the Wallace Foundation’s Advancing Well-Being in the Arts Initiative that seeks to fund small arts organizations, each with an annual budget of less than $500,000, that were founded by, for, and with communities of color. More information about applying for this initiative through the 2025 NFA will be available later in the spring. Learn more about the NALAC Fund for the Arts.

·  The 2025 NALAC Leadership Institute (NLI): The NLI is a week-long fellowship that brings nonprofit arts administrators and cultural workers together from across the nation for intensive training in leadership and management capacity. The 2025 NALAC Leadership Institute (NLI) will take place in San Antonio, TX, this summer. Learn more about the NALAC Leadership Institute.

·  The 2025 Intercultural Leadership Institute (ILI): The Intercultural Leadership Institute, a collaborative program of Alternate ROOTS, First People’s Fund, NALAC and PA’I Foundation, is a rigorous, year-long personal and leadership development experience created out of a shared commitment to pursue cultural equity and to support artists, culture bearers and other arts professionals as change-makers in their communities. NALAC will host an in-person session of the 2025 Intercultural Leadership Institute (ILI) in the fall. Learn more about the Intercultural Leadership Institute.

We are proud and grateful to the NALAC staff whose professionalism and commitment to NALAC and its mission have been front and center.
