Letras y Pintura is a living celebration of youth power, where art becomes resistance, pride, and transformation
Join us for the opening reception on Friday, June 7, from 1 to 4 PM as we honor the voices and visions of young people who are reclaiming their narratives, resisting injustice, and transforming culture through art.
This exhibition highlights the courage and brilliance of emerging artists by featuring protest posters from the LMEC student walkout, graffiti-inspired artwork, and the youth-designed poster for the 55th Chicano Park Day.

We’re honored to showcase the work of Gloria Rebolledo, our featured Community Gallery Artist, whose vibrant and powerful contributions can be seen throughout Chicano Park. Her latest pieces are now on display in the CPMCC’s Community Gallery, celebrating her unique voice and artistic legacy.
This Saturday, we invite you to a special artist plática featuring Gloria Rebolledo and Salvador “Queso” Torres, a legendary muralist and foundational figure in the Chicano Park movement. A longtime advocate for public art and cultural preservation, Queso has played a vital role in shaping the park’s visual and political identity.
Together, the artists will reflect on their creative journeys, their deep ties to the community, and the role of art in preserving Chicano history and culture.
This conversation is more than a reflection—it’s an act of preservation. By sharing their stories, Gloria and Queso help ensure that the history of Chicano Park and its artists lives on for future generations.
Following the plática, join our Archivist for a hands-on workshop on capturing and preserving oral histories.
Everyone is welcome! Scholarship applicants are especially encouraged to attend.
